Black Diamond Jagged Edge IPA

This beer was ok, but nothing remarkable. Yet another drinkable beer but nohing to impress. Hops are definitely there but not as malty for how much the label claims.

Leffe Blonde

So I had no clue this was owned by InBev.  The hubby and I bought a lot of beers from Cost Plus World Market for our little "around the world" series of beers.  I guess they don't get as random of distribution as I thought since this was InBev and a few others were Heineken's Europe division.

Eitherway, onto the beer.  It was what you'd expect from a blonde.  It wasn't terrible, but not one I'd pick up again.

Asahi Brewmasters Select

This was not as bad as I expected it to be.  Clearly, I have low expectations for Asian beers.  I would easily order this with some good, spicy foods.  Would I drink it at home every night?  Probably not.

Chang Beer

This was cloudier than I expected.  I kind of expected it to pour like a Budweiser.  It had a banana flavor, but not much else.  Once again, an interesting part of our "around the world" series, but nothing I'd really ever drink again....unless maybe I was in Thailand.

Stiegl Beer

Quite light and typical lager like.  It was not impressive.  It did not make me want to run to Austria for their beer!

Birra Moretti

This tasted like Heineken.  It was pretty awful.  This is a beer you drink quick because you're afraid of what it will taste like warm and then you can move onto something better.  Compared to the other Birra Moretti we tried, this was world's apart.  Don't bother with this one unless you love yourself some Heineken.

Birra Moretti La Rossa

Much darker than expected. Much better than I'd think too. Not something for everyday but a nice part of the around the world collection

This is much darker than I expected to be.  And it was much better than I had expected it to be as well.  We drank this beer as part of our "around the world" series and it was ok.  I don't know if I'd pick one up on a regular basis, but it was definitely drinkable.  Also, it's owned by Heineken Italia.  Go figure!

Leinenkugels Honey Weiss Bier

Compared to the other Leinenkugel's, this was ok, but nothing impressive.  Compared to the rest of beer-land, this was pretty terrible.  As you can see from the picture, there was a lot of carbonation.  I'd skip this one unless you're a big Leinenkugel's fan.

Laughing Dog Huckleberry Cream Ale

Not a lot of huckleberry flavor. Just like a plain tasting ale to me.  This was not very impressive or very fruity.  Overall, it was a bit of a let down.  You should skip this one.

Buffalo Bill's Strawberry Blonde Ale

Bleh. This was quite gross. It tasted of super fake flavor and not even a good fake flavor. Almost a plastic strawberry taste. I definitely won't be drinking this one again.

Burnside IPA

In fairness, I believe this was probably a bad bottle and it should get another chance at some point.

However, this was the bottle we got.  I was excited for this beer because I haven't seen Burnside really in Washington and love trying new breweries.  It was miserable to pour (see below).  The head was hoppy, but the rest of the beer was just kind of bleh.  It had potential, so I'd give it a go again and hopefully get a much better bottle than this one!

Beer Valley Delta 9

This beer was mild.  It was unfiltered and had lots of sediment in the bottle. It was not nearly as hoppy as I expected, but it was extremely drinkable.  It was a middle of the road beer as far as I'm concerned.

HeBrew Jewbelation Fifteen

Wwwwoooooeeee! This is a big beer. This has 15 hops and 15 malts and is definitely a beer that has a lot going on. It was good but a slow drinker for sure.  I don't think you could drink this quick if you tried.  I was impressed with this one and it was definitely a celebration in the bottle!

Southern Tier Oak Aged Back Burner

Barley wines are not my favorite style.  I generally take a sip and give them to the husband to finish.  I liked this one though.  The oak aged was a nice touch and I would like to try the regular one to to compare.  Overall, a good choice for a barley wine kind of night.

Widmer Brother Marionberry Hibiscus Gose

This was my first time trying a Gose, so it's hard to compare within the style.  I didn't taste the saltiness and it was not as tart as I expected for the style.  I could definitely taste the marionberry and hibiscus.  It poured bright pink (much more than the picture looks).  It was ok, but I don't think I'd pick it up again.

Pike Space Needle Golden Anniversary IPA

This beer was hoppy and a typical IPA from the great Pacific Northwest.  It was good.  However, for a special vintage and celebration of something so awesome I would have expected something a bit bigger and in your face.  In the picture the beer almost matches the color of the top of the Space Needle.  Who knew (until recently) that the original color of the Space Needle was an orange/gold color?

Rogue Voodoo Doughnut Maple Bacon Ale

So a lot of people call this beer a "drain pour" beer.  I don't really agree.  I wouldn't want to drink a giant glass of this.  As a matter of fact, we split our bottle 3 ways and that was the perfect amount.  I think it tastes pretty close to what the doughnut from Voodoo (in Portland, OR) tastes like.  It was definitely a worthwhile experience once, but not something I'd ever drink on a regular basis.  We have one more bacon beer sitting in our fridge and I'm excited to compare.

Uinta Organic Sum'r

I've had this one before.  I forgot that I have.  It's unremarkable.  It's not bad, I just wouldn't think to pick it up on a regular basis.  It's a good option if it's a hot summer day and you're sitting in an Adirondack chair (as seen on the label) enjoying the sun, but not on a cloudy July Seattle day.

Uinta Monkshine Organic

Quite fizzy when it poured and the carbonation looked crazy in the glass (you can kind of see it in the picture).  It wasn't that carbonated drinking though.  I really feel like a lot of the summer Belgian style beers taste the same.  This was just mediocre to me.  I don't think I'd pick it up again.

Anheuser-Bush InBev Landshark Lager

This beer is possibly worse than Budweiser.  It's not bitter, but that means it really has so little flavor.  It's drinkable if your only option and you're desperate for a minimal amount of ABV (4.7%), but not worth you picking up...ever.

And a back story as to how it got in my fridge to start:  A couple Navy wives came over to my house to drink for the night.  We each drink our own thing (one drinks alcohol, another wine, and of course I drink beer).  My wine drinking friend brought this one because it was left over in her fridge from a previous Navy party.  Beggars can't be choosers.

Lost Coast Downtown Brown

My friend's husband was out to sea.  I came over to the house and she informed me he left this beer for me because he loved it and somebody on the ship had brought it to him from San Diego.  It was quite yummy and I liked this brown - they tend to be hit or miss for me.  It was dark, but not heavy.  I could really taste the nutty flavors.  I'd definitely pick this one up again.

Taking a Break

For anybody out there reading, I don't want you thinking I disappeared into oblivion.  My husband and I just have a lot going on in our lives right now and I am taking a bit of break from the blog (and beer) in general.  We did some traveling last month for my sister-in-law's wedding, my step-daughter was visiting, and the Navy took my husband out to sea yet again.  We are working on planning a cross-country move to Albany, NY and I recently left my job.  Between all the changes I haven't had the chance to enjoy as many beers lately, but never fear, I will be back soon and then there will be a shift to East Coast beers!  Here's a preview of some beers I've picked up lately and will be reviewing sometime soon:

Thanks for your patience and understanding!
