Long Trail Triple Bag

This one was tasty, much better than the Double Bag.

Tröegs The Mad Elf Holiday Ale

Had this one back at the holidays - I like Troegs and don't remember having any bad feelings about it.

Southern Tier 2XMAS

I generally don't like winter beers, mostly because they're winter warmers.  I got excited by this beer because it's inspired by Glogg.  If you've never had glogg, you should try it.  It's delicious.  Anyway, this beer was like holiday in a glass.  It was spicy and full of cheer.  It's got a lot of umph for a holiday beer.  I'd say this was one to pick up and try for yourself...and maybe bring it to your next holiday party!

Bells Batch 10000 Ale

There was so much going on in this beer that there was no good way to comprehend all the flavors.  It tasted smokey to me.  Really, though, it just tasted amazing.  Is amazing a flavor?  Well, it is now.

Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale

For an ale it's got a lot bourbon flavor. The underlying beer is not as great but the bourbon comes out for sure.  I'd drink it again.

Rocky Coulee Whiteout Winter Ale

Once again, we were finishing off some beers before the move.  It had a lot of caramel notes.  It was definitely worthy trying and I imagine it would be even better near the time it was produced.  I'd pick this one up if you see it.

Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA

This beer is super hoppy.  But don't let that scare you, it's still delicious and smooth.  It really lives up to all the expectations around it.  I left work early to get this beer and it is well worth it.  I wish it wasn't as rare/restricted as it tends to be here in WA.  You can somewhat taste the high alcohol, but not in a bad way. It has a very floral taste.  By all means, I suggest grabbing one if you can!

On a personal note, we drank this beer to celebrate the husband's last day in the Navy.  Cheers to ending one chapter and starting another!

Bear Republic Red Rocket Ale

This was ok.  It was not as hoppy as I had hoped.  I have heard lots of great things about this, and ended up a bit let down.  It really wasn't as great as the hype around it that I've seen.

Widmer Brotheres Reserve Barrel Aged Brrrbon (Fall 2010)

Our local Albertson's is either great at getting aged beers or terrible at rotating their stock.  We found this 2010 just sitting on the shelf the other day, asking to be bought.  After buying a few aged beers there we at least know they store at a decent temperature and typically don't ruin them.  Anyway, it was pre-aged for us!

The beer was surprisingly smooth, especially considering the ABV.  I typically am not a fan of the winter ales, but this one was pretty good.  I can imagine if it hadn't been aged it would be a bit rough, but a few years made it delicious.  I'd consider picking up a 2012, but not drinking it for a few years.

HeBrew Jewbelation Fifteen

Wwwwoooooeeee! This is a big beer. This has 15 hops and 15 malts and is definitely a beer that has a lot going on. It was good but a slow drinker for sure.  I don't think you could drink this quick if you tried.  I was impressed with this one and it was definitely a celebration in the bottle!

Lagunitas Lucky 13.alt

This beer was hoppy and a bit like a sweet version of an IPA.  It tasted somewhat similar to their own IPA actually.  It was yummy and I'd drink it again.

Bear Republic, Fat Head's, and Stone TBA

TBA = Texas Brown Ale, just in case you wanted to know.

This was hoppier than I thought it would be.  It was drinkable and delicious, but lighter than I thought it would be.

Dogfish Head Palo Santo Marron

The husband had forgotten how dark this was and was a bit shocked when he poured it out, expecting something a bit lighter (in color & ABV).  It has a nice nutty and wood flavor to it.  Though it has an ABV of 12%, it wasn't too boozy.  Overall it was quite yummy!

Iron Horse Double Rainbow

BUT WHAT DOES IT MEAN!?!?!  Ok, really, this beer is pretty yummy.  I've had it both fresh and aged a bit (from when the hubby was deployed).  It loses some flavor and gets much weaker as it ages.  I'd definitely suggest drinking fresh if you've got one.

Oh and just in case you don't get/know the Double Rainbow joke, or just want a hilarious laugh, check out this video.

Lagunitas Sucks Holiday Ale

Normally Lagunitas does a Brown Shugga' for Christmas.  This year they sucked and didn't do it.  The result was this beer.  It was a decent beer, but nothing compared to their Brown Shugga'.  I'd still suggest it, though it wasn't very holiday season tasting.

Check out Lagunitas site for more info on their beers.
