This chocolate oatmeal stout was delicious. I loved the chocolate flavor, which I found to be notable in the beer. Actually, in writing this blog post, I think I need to look for this one again soon!

Lazy Magnolia Jefferson Stout

We got this beer from my husband's co-worker. He wasn't a stout guy and got it in a monthly subscription box. If you're a stout person, especially if you like milk/sweet stouts, you'll love this one. It was heavy on the sweetness and had a great flavor.

Keegan Ales Mothers Milk Stout

This beer was easy to drink and quite delicious.  It's a solid milk stout and I'd definitely drink it again.  It's not going to blow your mind, but you will enjoy it.

Bells Special Double Cream Stout

I had this on tap at Sergio's in Louisville.  It was super sweet.  So sweet you had to drink it slow and sip it.  It was delicious though.  Definitely one to try if you don't mind the sweet.

Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro

Yummy.  The head was delicious.  This beauty was had at Euclid Hall during our Denver beer tour.  Nitro makes this beer even better than it is in the bottle.  Great beer, even better on nitro.

Wynkoop Cowtown Milk Stout

I really love milk/sweet stouts.  And I hate when they disappoint.  This one wasn't a complete disappointment, but it also wasn't something that was amazingly delicious.  Just middle of the road.  I wish more people did this style well.

Samuel Adams Cream Stout

This is ok, but unimpressive.  That seems to be the theme of the Sam Adams beers I've had lately.  I'd rather have a nice local cream stout than this one.  I'd settle if this was the only stout available.

Lost Coast 8 Ball Stout

I think I've become a bit spoiled with this beer.  I can get it pretty much everywhere.  It's a drinkable stout and it's a standby of mine when picking up beers locally.

Iron Horse Cozy Sweater

This is delicious.  I love it.  Though it's a vanilla milk stout, the vanilla isn't particularly strong.  It's a yummy holiday beer!

Everybody's Cash Oatmeal Stout

I enjoyed this beer on tap at Brouwer's in Seattle.

Elysian Split Shot

I drank this beer in celebration of my birthday.  I was generous and shared with the husband and a friend.  I instantly regretted being generous since I wanted all of the deliciousness contained in this bottle for myself. The coffee flavor was perfect.  I could not have dreamed of a better espresso milk stout. Sadly, I did not grab a pic of the beer poured, just the bottle the next morning.  But I do love that label - it's so pretty!

My guess is this is going to be pretty limited since Elysian brewed it specifically for Seattle Beer Week.

Left Hand Milk Stout

One of my favorite drinkable stouts. It's delicious and almost creamy. Yum! Delicious.

Dick's Cream Stout

I am not exactly sure what to expect from cream stouts.  Thus, I took a peek at Wikipedia, mostly because I was too lazy to get up and get a book to look at.  Turns out it's the same as a milk stout.  I had presumed that, but good to get some confirmation.  Here's what Wikipedia has to say:  

Milk stout (also called sweet stout or cream stout) is a stout containing lactose, a sugar derived from milk. Because lactose is unfermentable by beer yeast, it adds sweetness, body, and calories to the finished beer. Milk stout was claimed to be nutritious, and was given to nursing mothers, along with other stouts, such as Guinness. The classic surviving example of milk stout is Mackeson's, for which the original brewers claimed that "each pint contains the energising carbohydrates of 10 ounces of pure dairy milk". In the period just after the Second World War whenrationing was in place, the British government required brewers to remove the word "milk" from labels and adverts, and any imagery associated with milk.

I've only had a few other milk/cream stouts so I can't really compare to others in the genre fairly, but I'd call it middle of the road (I can think of one worse and one better).  I do like the fact that it was considered nutritious though and lets pretend this one is as well.

I really like the taste of the beer and it's quite smooth to drink.  The taste of this beer is slightly bitter at the end, but it's not unpleasant to drink.  The label on this kind of freaks me out though.  The eye really looks like it's glowing.  CREEEEPY!
