Brooklyn Monster Ale

This is a good one.  A pretty good barely wine without being offensive.

Yet again, this is a great beer.  It drinks smooth and is not over powering.  It's one that is bound to please a room of beer lovers.

Weyerbacher Blithering Idiot

This is a delightful beer.  I keep saying I'm not a barley wine fan, but then I find more I love.  This is one of those.  Definitely a great choice if you're a BW fan.

Lagunitas Brown Shugga

Woohoo. Brown Shugga. We got the last pack at the store nearby and it's so delicious. It definitely packs a punch and presents interesting notes. Definitely one to grab when you see it!

Samuel Adams Griffin's Bow Oaked Blonde Barleywine Ale

I don't like barely wines.  We go over that every time I drink one.  But I keep drinking them.  I guess I can't resist trying new beers.  I particularly didn't like this one though.  I think the oak was too much and it tasted like what clothes smell like after sitting in dressers too long.  Yuck.

The husband said it was alright, but a contradiction.  He thought it drank heavy but finished light, more like an ale.  I was still caught up with the taste of dresser to notice the thickness.

Southern Tier Oak Aged Back Burner

Barley wines are not my favorite style.  I generally take a sip and give them to the husband to finish.  I liked this one though.  The oak aged was a nice touch and I would like to try the regular one to to compare.  Overall, a good choice for a barley wine kind of night.

Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Ale

For a barely wine, this was pretty good.  I drank it, but wasn't as much a fan as the husband was.

Midnight Sun Arctic Devil

This beer is dark and smoky and malty.  I generally don't like barley wines but I loved this one!

Avery Samael's Oak Aged Ale

Quite woody. Hehhe I said woody. Lots of vanilla too.  It was pretty sweet.  A bit overwhelming really.  I couldn't finish mine.

Dogfishe Head Immort Ale

Smells of vanilla. Almost like car fresher. Tastes of wood mixed with new car smell. This would be a good beer to drink in a new car. While driving. Ok maybe not the last part.  If you like wood, you'll love this beer.

Victory Old Horizontal 2010

We enjoyed this beer on tap at Uber Tavern in Seattle, WA.

The husband said this was not bad at all, but I still am not a fan of barley wines.

Mad River John Barleycorn

We enjoyed this beer on tap at Brouwer's in Seattle.

This beer was quite sweet.  The hubby thought it would be much better aged.

Hopwork Noggin Floggin

This was quite hoppy and ok for a barely wine.  I like HUB and this was another good beer by them.

Great Divide Old Ruffian

For a barley wine, this isn't too bad.  It's a bit hoppy and almost doesn't seem like a barley wine to me - or else I wouldn't really be drinking it.

Stone Old Guardian Barely Wine

This one was okay for a barley wine.  I am still not a fan, but this one I could drink.

Will has fond memories of this one since it was the first barely wine he ever tried way back in the day.  He picked up what he thought was pineapple notes on the beer and thought it was smokier than he remembered.

Hair of Dog Doggie Claws

I am not a barley wine fan.  During our recent trials of lots of barely wine's, I've come to the conclusion I like very few of them.  This one definitely was not for me.

Will thought this one was a good barely wine and had lots of good flavors.
