Tommyknocker Small Patch Pumpkin Harvest Ale

This one was not overly pumpkin in flavor or too heavy on the spices. It was okay and easy to drink.

Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin

The Smashed Pumpkin was just okay. It had a decent pumpkin flavor, but I don't think it was worth the cost of the bottle.

Harpoon UFO Pumpkin

First thing you should know is this beer is unfiltered. Second, it is delicious. It was one of the better pumpkin beers we had in the 2013 season.

Jolly Pumpkin La Parcela No. 1 Pumpkin Ale

This beer is a pumpkin sour. I really think it was a terrible idea and should not have been created. I'd classify it as mildly drinkable. Not my favorite for sure.

Blue Moon Short Straw Farmhouse Red Ale

Kind of boring beer.  Not surprising from a "Blue Moon" beer.  I really thought this would be a strawberry beer and was interested, but really it isn't at all.  There was no fruity flavor of strawberries or anything to make it interesting.  Not one I'd ever go looking for again.

Samuel Adams Merry Mischief Gingerbread Stout

This beer was pretty good.  It was somewhat sweet, but not over the top.  I could taste the gingerbread flavors.  It is definitely a great holiday beer and and something I'd drink again!

Anchor Our Special Ale 2012

These come out every season.  They are consistently good and full of holiday cheer.

Smuttynose Pumpkin Ale

This pumpkin ale, hopefully one of the last we'll have this season, did not have a ton of pumpkin flavor.  Overall, it's been a crappy year for pumpkin beers it seems and I'm going to guess it's due to the drought and a bad pumpkin crop.  Still, this beer was a bit disappointing.  It wasn't bad, just not interesting at all.  There were very few spice notes.  It's ok to drink, but I wouldn't be sad if you don't have it this year.

Saranac Chocolate Lager

This is a lighter brown than I expected.  It is definitely interesting.  It's ok to drink, but not a favorite.  As far as lagers go though, it's not awful.  Just mediocre.

Wolaver's Organic Pumpkin Ale

This beer shouldn't be confused with the Wolaver's Pumpkin by Otter Creek.  Totally different brewery.  The beer smelled really good, but just tasted ok.  Not my favorite pumpkin beer, but not totally awful to drink.

Elysian Dark O The Moon Pumpkin Stout

This is a drink once a year kind of beer. It's a dark stout so the pumpkin competes for the flavor.. It has some nice spice to it. Definitely one to try.I was thrilled to find it in NY since not a lot of pumpkin beers here are dark.

Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale

This is one of my favorite pumpkin beers.  It's spicy and flavorful.  It is the most complex?  No.  Can I drink a 6 pack of it easily?  Yes.  Do I love it?  Totally. I know a lot of people will disagree with me about this one, but I really don't care.  I love how flavorful it is and how it almost tastes like pie, but not as sweet.  Oh and for the price, it's just right!

Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale

This beer was on tap at the Bier Abbey in Schenectady, NY.  It was good and strong and has a nice flavor.  It was darker than I expected for a pumpkin ale.  It may be one of the best pumpkin beers I've had this year.

Southern Tier Pumking

I had this on tap at the Bier Abbey in Schenectady, NY and I've had it in the bottle this year.  Clearly, the beer on tap is pictured.  It's good, but not nearly as strong and delicious as last year's batch.  I'm beginning to think the pumpkin crop this year wasn't so great as a lot of the pumpkin beers have been a bit disappointing.

Saranac Pumpkin Ale

Yet another just okay beer from Saranac.  It didn't have a lot of pumpkin flavor or remind me much of any of the other spice characteristics I'd expect in a pumpkin beer.  It was drinkable, but nothing I'd look for again.

Post Road Pumpkin Ale

Ok. Not the strongest pumpkin or in flavor.  Not something I'd ever look for specifically again.

Shock Top Pumpkin Wheat

I don't ever know why I didn't bother to take a picture of this beer....

Really thought, it was okay.  By far nothing I'd ever call a favorite or buy myself, but when given to me for free as a "housewarming" beer, I won't complain.  It was drinkable and that was the best part.  If you're appealing to the masses, this is a good one.  If you actually enjoy craft beer (as I presume you do reading this blog) you may want to skip this one.

OFallon Pumpkin Beer

I like it.  It has almost a caramel taste. Reminds me of Shipyard Pumpkinhead.  I'd try it again if it was easy to come by.

Bison Honey basil

This was in our pile of beers to finish off before the move.  This tasted like roasted chicken meets beer.  It was easy to drink.  I imagine it would pair great with delicious Italian food or rosemary dishes.

Blue Moon Harvest Moon Pumpkin Ale

This was a weak pumpkin ale.  You could, once again, do much better than this beer if you're looking for a pumpkin ale.  For being mass produced and from Coors, it wasn't terrible, but definitely not ideal.
