PUB REVIEW: Brouwer's Cafe

Brouwer's in a pub in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle.  Their actual address is 400 N. 35th St, Seattle.

It really is a beer haven.  They boast 64 beers on tap and over 300 in bottles.  The husband and I snagged a seat upstairs.  I wish they had a bottle list since it was really hard to see all their bottles from up there.  There was a nice tap list, which we used to order a few different beers.  Coming here as a place for beer, I wish the food selection was a bit better.  I felt like ordering off their happy hour menu it just didn't have anything substantial enough for pairing with lots of beer.  That being said, the food we did order was pretty great.  The Power Hour Frites Deluxe (pictured above) were great.  The beer sauce was delicious and the onions were a great compliment.

We also gave the Falafel "fries" a try.  These definitely weren't for me (or the hubby) and I think we both would have liked them to be a bit more substantial.  The filling wasn't enough to overpower the deep fried taste and the apricot chutney was just ok.  The menu described a dragon bourbon sauce but I have no clue where that was on them since there was no sauce anywhere to be seen.

Lastly, we tried the sliders.  They were pretty delicious and I could have just had those and the fries.  The sliders were more beef stew on a bun rather than a slider burger which I had in my mind.  They were allegedly Kobe beef, and if that's true, it was terrible Kobe.

The service here was  ok for not being very busy.  Overall, if you're just coming here for beers, you will be more than delighted.  If you're coming here to settle in and drink for a while, I imagine you may find yourself wanting some more food options.
